Sheffield Shining Bright
Jordan Sheffield (Vanderbilt) is the top pitching prospect in the Cape Cod League. Perhaps that statement should have come with a “spoiler alert” disclaimer for our end of the summer list, but the distinction is fairly clear at this point in the summer. That said, the numbers don’t necessarily reflect his elite status through five appearances this summer.
Despite a 5.49 ERA over his five appearances, Sheffield is undoubtedly at the top of the pitching prospect heap. Sample size is always important to keep in mind when it comes to Cape Cod performances, and there has been far too much to like about Sheffield’s stuff to worry about the raw numbers.
